Can Adults Learn Piano from Scratch

I have mentioned in some previous blog posts how easy it is for children to learn music. I have also mentioned how many adult students are frustrated that they didn’t have a piano education when they were younger. Does this mean adults can’t learn to play piano from scratch? Not at all. The best time to start is today, and I can help with many strategies to ensure success in learning piano.

Adults have some advantages that kids don’t have. We have years of experience in tackling challenges. We know how to manage time. How to problem solve. How to plan. etc. So even though we don’t have the remarkably plastic brains of kids that can pick up new skills with no effort, we actually know how to develop and perfect new skills, and we have the discipline and perseverance to see it through.

And when it comes to piano its really worth seeing it through as an adult. Very few things bring more enjoyment and satisfaction that playing the piano. Its great stress relief and its great fun. And it doesn’t matter if you are at the start of your piano journey or if you have been learning for years, there are always challenges to overcome and great achievements to take pride in. And every new piece of music that you learn is a new way to relax and enjoy yourself.
